AI Summary This summary was generated by AI from the bill text. AI can get information wrong.
This bill would make lobbying reports more transparent by requiring registrants to identify any foreign government or foreign political party that helps direct, plan, supervise, or control their lobbying work. In simple terms, if a foreign government or foreign party is involved behind the scenes in lobbying activities, that connection would have to be listed in the registration paperwork, along with its name and address. The goal is to make it easier for the public and government officials to see when foreign influence may be part of lobbying in the United States.
- It changes the Lobbying Disclosure Act rules for what must be included in a lobbyistâs registration.
- The new disclosure applies to foreign governments and foreign political parties, including their agencies or local government units.
- The foreign group must be named if it takes part in directing, planning, supervising, or controlling lobbying activities.
- The bill is meant to improve transparency about foreign involvement in lobbying.
