AI Summary This summary was generated by AI from the bill text. AI can get information wrong.

This bill would require a government watchdog to review the current federal system for tracking subawards, which are the grants or payments that flow from a main federal award to another group. The review would look for problems that cause missing or wrong information and would recommend fixes. The bill would also require the General Services Administration to create a plan to improve the system so it gives better, faster, and more complete information. Over time, it would also expand reporting so federal agencies collect more information about where these funds go, with the goal of making the process easier to use, more consistent across agencies, and more open to the public.

  • The Inspector General of the General Services Administration would have to send Congress a report within 180 days.
  • That report must review the reporting system, judge how well it works, and point out problems with accuracy, consistency, public access, and enforcement.
  • Within 1 year, the General Services Administration must submit a plan to improve the system, and then report on progress every year until the plan is finished.
  • The bill would also push federal agencies to expand reporting so they track the first two levels of subawards, not just the first level, and begin carrying out that expansion within 2 years.
