This bill would change the rules for job training programs funded under federal workforce law. Its main purpose is to make clear when online training providers can be paid with state workforce money. In general, if a person chooses a training provider that offers services only online, that provider must meet the same eligibility rules as other training providers. If the online provider is not located in the state or local area that approved the training, it cannot receive payment from that state’s funds unless it is already approved on that state’s list of eligible training providers.

  • Applies to providers that offer training services only online.
  • Requires these providers to follow the same eligibility procedures used for other training providers.
  • Blocks payment from state workforce funds if the provider is outside the approving area and is not on the state’s approved provider list.
  • Sets clearer rules for when participants can use public funds for online training.
