AI Summary This summary was generated by AI from the bill text. AI can get information wrong.

This bill would stop states and local governments from charging excise taxes on the sale of firearms, ammunition, or gun parts when those sales are made by manufacturers or dealers in interstate or foreign commerce. In simple terms, it would block special state-level taxes on gun and ammunition businesses for those kinds of sales. The bill also says it should not change a separate federal wildlife funding law that already applies to firearms and ammunition.

  • States and their local governments would be barred from collecting an excise tax on sales of firearms, ammunition, or firearm or ammunition parts and components.
  • The ban would apply to sales made by manufacturers or dealers when the sales are connected to interstate or foreign commerce.
  • The bill says it does not affect the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act, which helps fund wildlife conservation through existing federal rules.
