AI Summary This summary was generated by AI from the bill text. AI can get information wrong.

This bill would require U.S. Customs and Border Protection to check a person’s name against the federal terrorist screening database before that person can be released from custody. It changes current immigration law so that, if someone is found in the database, they can be held under the law’s custody rules. The goal is to make sure border officials review this database and get the result before making a custody decision.

  • It adds a new rule saying that a person may be kept in custody if they are listed in the terrorist screening database.
  • It says Customs and Border Protection must cross-check the person’s name with the database and wait for the result before ending custody.
  • It defines the terrorist screening database by using the same meaning already found in homeland security law.
