AI Summary This summary was generated by AI from the bill text. AI can get information wrong.
This bill would stop U.S. foreign aid from going to any country that refuses or unreasonably delays taking back its own citizens after the United States tries to deport them. In simple terms, if a country does not cooperate with U.S. deportation efforts for a long enough time, that country could lose federal foreign assistance. The bill is meant to push other countries to accept people the U.S. says belong there, instead of leaving them stuck in the United States.
- The rule would apply only after the Secretary of State has already used an existing immigration law to restrict visas for that country for 180 days.
- If, at the end of that 180-day period, the country is still denying or unreasonably delaying acceptance of its citizens or residents, it would become ineligible for foreign assistance.
- The bill would block all federal funds for foreign assistance to those countries while the problem continues.
